The event very well narrated.Amazing journey well captured.It’s a heart touching story of yours and wonder where you got all the energy and strength to deal with your ordeals.
Choosing light- this is the best gift to your kids. When they read this they would know that they don’t have to look for inspiration else where as their biggest hero is their dad! You are an example for courage, love, perseverance and simply’Life’. The path in which you have walked is a mountain of motivation and spirit for them.

I enjoyed the book. While it was sad to see what you went through, the narrative was very Catchy and I never felt bored at any instance.
I’m glad you shared your story as millions of people like me can draw inspiration from It. I’m sure it was not an easy thing to get a book out. First of all, I wish to thank evey one that made this story available to me. I won this in a Giveaway from Goodreads and am happy to receive it and leave an honest review. For some reason India fascinates me so I was happy to see that the book took place in India. What I didn't know is that it is a true story about a young college student that returns to India for the holiday only to trapped in a horrible earthquake that devastated Bhuj. On January 26, 2001, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake hit early in the morning, killing 20,000 people and destroying buildings, dams, and port facilities. This memoir was written by Viral Dalal who survived this tragedy by being entombed in a very small concrete space. I'm glad he is alive to record this in such a lovely tribute to his parents.
This is an amazing and inspirational book. Viral's description of the earthquake and his entrapment for 5 days is riveting and chilling. It made me wonder if I could survive in the same situation. When you read of earthquakes (and other natural disasters) or see them on TV, you really have no idea of the extent of the damage, destruction, and rescue efforts involved. In this book, you are there, minute by minute, through all of the destruction, sadness, and loss. You experience the darkness in his soul afterward, with him. Finally, he takes you on his journey toward light and life, inspiring you to appreciate everyone and everything in your life even more. The quotes he used to start each chapter were wonderful. I did win this book on a Goodreads giveaway, and I am so glad I did. This book will continue to be an influence on my thoughts.
What a heartbreaking story, I mean it broke my heart or shattered is more like it.

The book starts with explaining Viral's education and his awesome story of growing up with such a loving, caring family. His dad is a little standofish but you can see his love and compassion that he holds in. Viral returns to India to visit with family from New Jersey and for his brother's birthday party.

Not long after the family arrived at an apartment to stay in before the celebration, a earthquake strikes and a big one 7.7 shakes the town. Viral finds himself buried by the rubble and very little room to move around. He spends several days awaiting rescue, has bad thoughts, drinks his own urine and overall just tries to survive. He blames God and almost looses his faith. I myself don't know how I could survive if I lost my whole family but he didn't know that at the time.

This is an incredible story of survival and determination to stay alive and to keep going in life when all is taken away.

I recommend this book. It may however, leave you in tears.

A great read. This book depicts the resilience and bravery of Viral to overcome any adverse situation. The writing is bare bones and straightforward, with so much emotion in the words themselves which brought me to tears many times. Profound and incredibly moving. I am encouraged by Viral’s positive attitude towards life and reminds me to cherish love and family.
I didn't want to put down . I'm going to give it to a very good friend to read. Give it try.
It's a great read from the very eyes of someone that went through such an ordeal. It gives you goosebumps as you turn the pages but there is light at the end of the tunnel and I cannot state enough about the courage and the state of presence of Viral. I would highly recommend this book for anyone that feels their life has been tough on them. This will definitely take you to the place of courage and stay content with what you have and take every day as a blessing. Thanks viral for sharing with us.
A valuable book that makes you rethink the importance of life, light and love. Viral Dalal's true character and conviction kept him strong through the very ordeal that no one should ever experience or witness. "Choosing light" is simply a choice that everyone is entitled to and once you embrace it everything changes around you. This is the substance on which happiness builds and grows. Viral Dalal has made his Parents and family really proud by showing others the way to live a full life because he knows the importance of life. Great work! A truly inspiring and must read.
