HalfBlood Covenant Jennifer L Armentrout Books

J.A. really needs to send my boss an apology for making me late to work, because I was always up late reading this series. I could.not.put.it.down. I loved it so much that I’m just going to write about the series, not individual books. I know a lot of people say that Half-Blood is a rip-off of vampire academy, but honestly I never read that series. This was engaging, and her writing had a great flow. She doesn’t waste time filling pages with descriptions, instead she builds this world of characters and makes you feel like you’re there on the sidelines. I liked the main character, her wit & strength, and yet how vulnerable and emotional she was. All the books were fast-paced, and but I could never guess what was going to be around the corner. And seriously the ending...let’s just say I was on a flight finishing the last book, crying. ACTUALLY crying 🙄. I’ve already re-read the series twice over. I can’t wait to try her other novels.

HalfBlood Covenant Jennifer L Armentrout Books Reviews

Review of Half Blood
Rating 4 stars

I read some other reviews regarding this book and the amount of people that suggested it was like Vampire Academy, had me curious. Yes it was but it was also unique in its own way.

Alex the main character is a fighter, on the run with her mother, she’s a half blood protector of the pure’s, but when she runs into trouble with daimons her mother is killed and she’s saved by the pure’s one being Aiden. Wow is hot. 

I loved Alex’s dry sense of humour her smart mouth and her drive. She’s like a disobedient child when someone says go left she will go right. But it’s fun to read, as she trained by Aiden who is forbidden to the likes of her. Half bloods and pure’s are not allowed to be together, and it’s tough as they train the feelings she has for Aiden grow stronger.
She also has some awful people to deal with like Lea who’s nothing but a bitch, but Alex ends up breaking her nose and I loved it. It was so deserving to hell with the consequences. Then there’s Lucian her step-father who is the worst parent of all.

But Alex is also surround by some really cool people like Caleb her best friend who ISN’T in love with her, and I appreciated this so much in the book. Majority of male best friends are in love with the MC. So this was a breath of fresh air.

The love story between Aiden and Alex is electric but for me I loved Seth the Apollyon, he was rude yet cool, sounded gorgeous but towards the end of the book we got to see a nice side of him. (well kind of). )

Overall really enjoyed this story it was non-stop action in every department and I love a MC with a sarcastic mouth.
MY THOUGHTS
I didn't read any reviews to this before I went and read it. All I know is a lot of readers enjoyed it, and now that I read it I can understand why. It wasn't horrible by any means. There was one problem I had with it, and I'm not sure whether I see it as a big problem or not. It didn't help the way I rated it on goodreads though. It was just way, WAY to similar to another series to give it any higher then 3 stars. I mean the first couple of pages I could tell. I know this may sound ridiculous, but I even made a list of the similarities. (I may or may not put it up. I don't wanna be that person.) Also, it seemed a bit predictable after reading further along in it. You knew Alex was different from what the daimon said and when you met some of the others characters, and learned some of the history it clicked. (at least it did for me) So with this being said I did enjoy the few things that were different. I loved that it had to do with the gods and those type myths. I personally haven't read many dealing with the gods yet. I do own a few books though.

Aside from the similarities with the characters/plot. I enjoyed the characters. I suppose any characters that can pull off a Rose/dimitri thing I'll enjoy.

Alex was definitely that kick-butt heroine that I've grown to love in other stories such as Vampire Academy, Divergent, and others. She has that I'll hit you now and think about it later personality which most the time will get her in trouble, but it really doesn't seem to bother her. She's strong when she needs to be. She's got that snarky attitude. She one of those characters that I would love to see grow in the next book.

I'm hoping with the next book it'll be different so that I can appreciate it more.
Alex is a half-blood which means she is the daughter of a Hematoi(a descendant of the greek gods)and a mortal. There is only two ways of life for half-bloods be a mindless servant for the Pure bloods(off spring of two Hematoi)or guard them and hunt down the Daimons[pure bloods who have went all dark side after getting a taste of Aether(life force running throw the blood of pure and half bloods)and will do anything for a fix].
Alex is one of the lucky ones. Training to be Sentinel(the half bloods who hunt down daimons)in the Covenant. I loved this book. I am late to the Jennifer L Armentrout fan club but I have become a card carrying member. The opening had my heart racing and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. This book sucks you in and doesn't let you go even after you have reached the end. It has it all action, romance, special powers, forbidden love, and great main characters.Alex is a feisty, strong, and sarcastic heroine who has you rooting for her from page one. Aiden and Seth are two very hot swoon worthy heroes. I love how Aiden understands Alex and treats her as an equal. Aiden's caring and understanding nature would sweep any girl off her feet. And here is were the forbidden love comes in.Alex is a half blood and Aiden is a pure and one of the rules is halfs and pures can't date.Seth's wit and bluntness where my favorite things about his character. I saw some things coming but just as many things I didn't see coming. I loved the heat between the main characters Alex and Aiden. I swear the pages were hot to the touch. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. This book is not to be missed for all young adult paranormal fantasy fans.
